THE ISSUE AT HAND
There is a deep concern over the lack of awareness for individuals experiencing various gynecological conditions, especially in the workplace. Many of which share stories of how their entire work-life is heavily affected by their gynae health as little care is provided for comfort at work, leading them to quit or get laid off for absent performance.

Detailed BUSINESS GOAL
Fabricate a fit-to-all solution combination of personalization, health, and technology with the goal of empowering workplace businesses and people in supporting the underserved and poorly researched areas in health care by dealing with taboos and shaking off the stigma.

1. DESIGN SYSTEM
The primary solution was to come up with a design system that was guided by principles, and best practices.
With continuous team brainstorming, the design team documented and tested the old to new GUI implemented for the redesign of the entire platform.
2. PERSONALIZATION
To solve the problem of complexity and the "copy-cat" repetitiveness that we find nowadays in the digital market, it was crucial to eliminate any unnecessary elements and construct the platform to be highly persona specific instead. In order to achieve that, 60% of our time was spent on user testing and doing virtual field research.
3. SECURITY
Collecting and analyzing vast amounts of data was our key to gaining insights into patient health trends and identifying potential risk factors. This, in turn, allowed our design team to collaborate with the scientific minds of this company in order to develop personalized treatment plans and interventions. All data had to be secure, validated, and enterprise ready.
CHALLENGES
1. GETTING EVERYONE ON BOARD
A design system is not a one-man project and if we want it to succeed, we need everyone on board. Explaining the function of a design system from a design perspective was quite challenging to non-designer team members.
2. FOCUS AND PRIORITY
Sometimes, focusing on one task at a time was quite challenging. Every team member had more than one role to play. Auditing the designs pre and post-launch was a hassle while continuously shifting our focus from functionality to alignment & spacing correction, to transitional animations, to marketing & promotional design, back to processing survey results, redefining the outcome, and so on and so forth.
LAYING THE FOUNDATION
Building a feasible, and entirely remote global team system to continuously follow on a daily basis was our top priority. Without that ongoing organizational pattern, our goals would have been lost in our board of brainstorming and iterations.
As a consultant, It was CRUCIAL to introduce the team to the basics of Scrum and playful brainstorming methods before the revamp of the entire Syrona Health platform was even initiated.

This is why, after several try-outs with different design systems such as Google's Material-UI Design System, IBM's Carbon Design System, Duolingo's Brand guidelines, Apple's Human Interface Guidelines, and many more... We've decided to select what we concluded would be the most suitable tool for our UI components organization and went for Google's Material UI which is based largely on the principles of Atomic Design.
This foundation closely defined our style guide, user navigation, and information architecture as it proved essential for guiding our work in a unified direction. Reviewing our collective work at the end of each day via JIRA ( a useful workflow and automation software supporting our agile planning and scrum boards ) we began to see patterns emerge and consistent links while switching between Design and Dev mode.

We course-corrected when necessary, and started defining our standardized components accordingly.

We were now ready.

We've thus combined and collected our digital assets, and started building on our ideas to upgrade our existing mobile application, SORA ( which in turn means Sky in Japanese, ultimately symbolizing boundlessness and transcendence for breaking out of conventional health care accessability).
The combination of personalisation, technology and instant access to our clinical experts lead to transformative healthcare outcomes.

Keeping up (with the Kardashians) with the UI trends related to new online health care features out there, my colleagues and I made sure to design smart, modular and attractive features following our own designed styleguide, flexible enough to be customizable according to every user health journey. Every solution is bespoke to the user's organisation and its needs.

Inform both individuals & employers of the services/products of Syrona. Create a flow that will make the newcomers pay for services/products

Formal & informal USER TESTING for feedback & PERSONA BUILDING

User testing through interviews and surveys was essential for completing our gynecological health app, ensuring it meets the unique needs of its users.
This approach helped us identify critical insights into user preferences, concerns, and behaviors, guiding the development of a sensitive and effective app that addresses real user demands.



OVERALL OUTCOME
In summary, we received loads of insightful feedback from 43 women of different ages and lifestyles on how our app could support them.
While users appreciated the modern, clean, and gender-neutral design of the interface, they highlighted issues with minor unclear navigations, which we promptly addressed.
The flexibility of features available to non-premium users was well-received, underscoring our commitment to accessibility.
However, feedback also pointed out bugs in the registration process, which were quickly identified and fixed.
This constructive feedback loop has been invaluable in refining our app, ensuring it not only meets but exceeds user expectations in managing their gynecological health.

IMPACT
Numerous hours of brainstorming, careful planning, sketching, designing, and developing have brought the desired results for the Syrona Health platform to life. We were proud to present the new upgrade of the product to our users. The final result of the multi-device platform was an eye-catching, minimalistic, and intuitive product personalized for each user persona to help them have access to as many resources as they could hope for.
